World’s largest oil company Saudi Aramco, which is a national company of Saudi Arabia has recognized that its computer systems were subjected to cyber attack using malicious software. In this large-scale infestation affected virtually all of the workstations of its employees.
Oil industry equipment is not damaged, but Saudi Aramco had to completely disconnect from the Internet in anticipation of the full restoration of infrastructure to the end of this week. Representatives of Aramco did not specify the direction of the attack and its purpose, however, insist that the security breach did not lead to destabilization of the production: “The company has a number of preventive procedures, and multiple backup systems in the advanced and complex set that you use to protect their operating systems and databases” .
Vulnerable to such attacks may be Chevron and Schlumberger Ltd, because they are linked to networks Aramco.
